My First Diary Entry. Went to Bromswell Lakes for a well earned fishing trip. Lovely warm Autumn weather, but no fish ! Not a great start to my on line fishing diary. I can't try out my new app to add fish captures to a Google map of the fishing venue now. Oh well, maybe next week...As I was driving to the lake the sun suddenly came out and I got the feeling I was going to have a good day's...
First Trip To Manor Farm Fishery. Today was my first trip to Manor farm at Swilland, Ipswich. I caught nine carp (I think, will have to check my notes). It was quite nice weather, cold but with some nice sunshine. The bailiff was very friendly, and I should consider going back there, especially if I want plenty of runs from small carp. The venue is quite remote, but not very far from Sproughton. The bailiff was very friendly, and said that the carp got to about 15lb, ...
First fishing trip of the year. After all the effort of developing this fishing diary, it then went freezing cold for months on end. This weekend has been the warmest in nearly six months, a wopping 8 degrees. What is happening to this countries weather ? It was bright sun shine all day long, with light winds, but I did not hold out much hope as it was -5c this morning, and snowing all of last week. It really does not feel like spring.Anyway, I learnt a few lessons today. I am not going to catch much unless I scale down my tackle. I think I...
Hot At Last But Rubbish Fishing. I've been praying for some warm weather, and today I got it. Now it's too hot. I'm never happy me. Anyway, I fished at the near bay next to the tree, but it was a bad decision, as blossum off the trees was everywhere and clogged up my tackle. The temperature got to at least 27c today, and it killed the fishing. At about 4 pm I got ...
...he biggest tench I have ever caught at marsh Farm. Later on I foul hooked a 12lb common near the island, and it took for ever to get in.
I need to get into surface fishing soon, as there were a lot of carp cruising on the surface. It seems that the carp have got used to the hot weather and started feeding again.
First Fishing Trip In Weeks. Finally got the chance to go fishing today. It was an average sort of day, weather wise, about 20c and blustery, but bright. The lake at Marsh Farm was churned up like a rough sea, making float fishing difficult, and it was packed with Bank Holiday crowds, so choice of swim was limited. After about 20 mins, having finally managed to tie a hair rig, it promptly got snapped b...
Hot Weather In September Kills The Fishing. Went fishing today at Marsh Farm for the first time in a few weeks due to family commitments, and it was about 30c and windy.I fished the back swim by the boat, behind the island, mainly because it was in the shade and I needed to keep cool. After little actio...
...ediately found out that the margins are not that suitable for float fishing or stalking, as they were too shallow. I had no bites all day, and got the beginnings of heat exhaustion.
I might go back one day, as the it would be unfair to judge it on today's basis, because the weather was so extreme.
Third Day At Woodlakes. My last day in the log cabin, and the weather was sunny and warm, for a change. After a few hours (fruitless) fishing outside the cabin, I decided to go to the "runs" water, Two Pole Lake, and almost immediately caught a small carp. After an hour or two of good fishing, things suddenly went blank, after about 6pm. Strange. I also lost a ...
...Couldn't get to my favourite spot so I tried another swim, not been to before. Wish I hadn't, as I had no action all day. Then in the evening I wandered around to the other bays as per usual stalking tactics, but I either got snapped or the hook came out. Very frustrating. But nice weather for September.
