... to catch carp, even though the average size seems quite small. There was an extremely tame duck that hassled me for ages while squeeking at me in a really cute way. Luncheon meat caught most of the carp, though I had a few bigger carp (get off) later in the evening on fishy (crab) boilies, hair-rigged.
Epic Days Fishing In A Cold Wind. Sat in a freezing cold wind all day in the back bay, but caught carp all day long and almost from the beginning. I have decided to not use pre-tied hairrigs any more because they let me down badly today.Fishing in front of the boat I got bite after bite. But the last five fish snapped me. They were angry and violent, and at least two were giants.

... for the best. When I arrived it was freezing cold and blowing a gale, but soon turned into a really nice afternoon.Today is proof that I do not need to catch much in order to enjoy myself. I only had one bite in the swim, and that snapped me. I am disgusted at how weak pre-tied shop bought hairrigs are, and so have started tying my own after this latest incident.

Sam caught about 5, and I got 7, the biggest being about 6lbs. All were caught on hairrigged crab boilie, some on float and some on bolt rig. It was a really enjoyable day and we had a lot to eat, caught the sun, and lost several carp in the reeds.
...as an average sort of day, weather wise, about 20c and blustery, but bright. The lake at Marsh Farm was churned up like a rough sea, making float fishing difficult, and it was packed with Bank Holiday crowds, so choice of swim was limited. After about 20 mins, having finally managed to tie a hairrig, it promptly got snapped by some wild carp darting for the snags. Gutted. Then I tried the old faithful spot, and guess what, it did not let me down. Had a small 6lb carp, that was very, very angry.
Went back to my spot at the back by the fishing boat, and soon had a monster snap me up i...
