...about 15 C. My optimism was quickly dashed once I arrived at the lake - there was a fishing match on and so Horseshoe Lake was closed.
I therefore set up on the smaller match lake, not very hopeful of much action and I was right. I ledgered and float fished, both rigs were with shell fish boilies, hard on the bottom. After three hours of no bites, but catching a bit of a sun tan, I quickly moved to the main lake as soon as the match was over. I fished in my favourite swim, the round shaped bay, and got a steady number of bites, but missed them all. No activity on the bolt rig.

...#39;s easy to catch carp, even though the average size seems quite small. There was an extremely tame duck that hassled me for ages while squeeking at me in a really cute way. Luncheon meat caught most of the carp, though I had a few bigger carp (get off) later in the evening on fishy (crab) boilies, hair-rigged.
...sh Farm Fishing lakes, even though it was very windy, the forecast said it would be 19c. This would be the third fishing trip of 2013 and I desperately wanted to actually catch something. I had fined down my tackle to 8lb mainline, with a 7lb low diameter hook length, and had a load of fresh boilies and pellets to use.My hopes were high at first, but I quickly became despondent as the cold started to seep into my bones from the constant gale force winds. It was freezing, the forecast woefully inaccurate, as usual. And even worse no bites.I started out on the small lake, purely because i...
A Lovely Winters Day In June. It was freezing and grey all day. Welcome to the British summer. I arrived at about 1pm and went to my favourite swim of the moment, at the back of the lake by the island.Bream are a particular problem at the moment, and next week I think I will have to double up the boilies. The spot that I caught the 20 pounder delivered as usual. Ten minutes there and I had a nice 12lb carp, which nearly took my arm off trying to get back under the tree.I helped a man land his carp, as his wife couldnt put up their specimen landing net. He was well chuffed, and estimated the ...
Way Cooler At Bromswell Lakes. I wasn't too hopeful for today. It was very cool compared to of late, and very bright, and very windy. I went to the usual swim in the corner bay, and float fished large fishy boilies near the reeds.I had a really good day actually, and got four small, but hard fighting carp, all from tucked up tight to the reeds. I didn't lose any (snapped that is) and had plenty of bites. I used the full strength fishing line and this seems to be about right at the moment, even for the ...
...with only two other people there. It is a nightmare to get to, going down some very narrow scary Devon lanes, which is enough to put me off to be honest.
Add to the that, both times I have not had even a slight wobble on the float for hours at a time. Nothing. Maybe they do not like boilies. Who knows. I probably will not ever find out.
First Trip To M And B Fishery. Decided to try out a fishery near Totnes, and was glad I did. It is pretty, secluded, and an easy drive from my house.I set up with anticiaption, but quickly realised that I had the wrong bait (boilies are banned) and was at the wrong end of the lake, where it was only two feet deep.
I perseveered and caught one carp, but the conditions were terrible, and it has not put me off trying here again. My new bivvy was fantastic, and I was cozy in there all day sheltered from the wind.
