...as cheap for two rods, and the bailiffs were really nice. The lake is really just a pond, but was spotless and quite picturesque.Saturday was really mild and without a breath of wind. I thought I would try somewhere new again, in my relentless search for somewhere to replace what I had at MarshFarm i.e. loads of carp with an average size of 10 lbs, in beautiful surroundings.
There was a match on so I was restricted to one half of the small lake. It is about two and a half feet deep all over and a funny lime green colour to the water. They are very friendly there, with several peo...
Rather Good Start To The Fishing Year. Today I decided to return to MarshFarm Fishing lakes, even though it was very windy, the forecast said it would be 19c. This would be the third fishing trip of 2013 and I desperately wanted to actually catch something. I had fined down my tackle to 8lb mainline, with a 7lb low diameter hook length, and had a load of fresh boil...
...e temperature got to at least 27c today, and it killed the fishing. At about 4 pm I got a screaming run on a fruity boilie on the ledger, and it took me nearly an hour to get it in. A young lad was watching, and never stopped talking, rubbish mainly. He told me that the small lake here at MarshFarm has been emptied and all the big fish put into the big lake, because they are losing so many fish to the otters.
This bit might actually be true. The small lake is clear and quiet looking. If carp are not feeding in there then the water will be clearer. I really hope the otters d...
First Day Of MarshFarm Camping Trip. Arrived later than I planned so it was a mad rush to get the tent up, so I could get fishing. It was very hot and humid, and mostly sunny. I settled down in the shady swim at the back of the lake, near the no fishing area island, with the up turned boat. After an hour of no b...
Second Day Of MarshFarm Camping. I got up at the crack of 7am and headed straight to the lake before even having a coffee. It was warm, bright and sticky even at that time, so I was not too optimistic. I headed to the swim with the square bay at the back of the lake, where I had seen, previously the night before...
... and eventually I got some action.I returned to the old favourite swim and almost immediately got a few bites, and eventually landed (with an audience behind me) a nice, very hard fighting, 9lb common. I almost immediately caught a big tench, by far the biggest tench I have ever caught at marshFarm. Later on I foul hooked a 12lb common near the island, and it took for ever to get in.
I need to get into surface fishing soon, as there were a lot of carp cruising on the surface. It seems that the carp have got used to the hot weather and started feeding again.
First Fishing Trip In Weeks. Finally got the chance to go fishing today. It was an average sort of day, weather wise, about 20c and blustery, but bright. The lake at MarshFarm was churned up like a rough sea, making float fishing difficult, and it was packed with Bank Holiday crowds, so choice of swim was limited. After about 20 mins, having finally managed to tie a hair rig, it promptly got snapped by some wild carp darting for the snags. Gutted. Then I tried t...
Hot Weather In September Kills The Fishing. Went fishing today at MarshFarm for the first time in a few weeks due to family commitments, and it was about 30c and windy.I fished the back swim by the boat, behind the island, mainly because it was in the shade and I needed to keep cool. After little action on the float, and none on the ledger, I moved to the usual s...
Fishing By The Fallen Tree Brings Eventual Reward. An amazingly warm October day, and hardly any one at the MarshFarm lake, meant some great fishing. I finally got to fish the fallen tree, and it only disappointed a little bit.Ives been dying to fish this swim for a couple of months now, because it looked so "Carpy" now with the fallen tree, Unfortunately, everyone else has had the same idea, a...
Cold Spring Bank Holiday As Usual. Got myself down to MarshFarm today for my first visit of the year, and found that they have butchered the place. About fifty percent of the trees have been removed. For my style of fishing, that means that fifty percent of fishing hot spots have been removed. It was like Armageddon, with the bleak wind having nothing ...
