Rather Good Start To The Fishing Year. Today I decided to return to Marsh Farm Fishing lakes, even though it was very windy, the forecast said it would be 19c. Second Day Of Marsh Farm Camping. I got up at the crack of 7am and headed straight to the lake before even having a coffee. It was warm, bright and sticky even at that time, so I was not too optimistic. I headed to the swim with the square bay at the back of the lake, where I had seen, previously the night before...

... and eventually I got some action.I returned to the old favourite swim and almost immediately got a few bites, and eventually landed (with an audience behind me) a nice, very hard fighting, 9lb common. I almost immediately caught a big tench, by far the biggest tench I have ever caught at marsh Farm. Later on I foul hooked a 12lb common near the island, and it took for ever to get in. I need to get into surface fishing soon, as there were a lot of carp cruising on the surface. It seems that the carp have got used to the hot weather and started feeding again.
