I had high hopes for today, and though a bit quiet at times, and therefore a bit boring, it was still quite a good fishing trip. I lost a big carp because of a badly tied knot, which is always annoying, but caught three more, luckily.

Marauding ducks, pesky skimmers nibbling at my bait, a persistent cold wind, and a large carp lost in the snags, all combined to make this a frustrating and not particularly enjoyable fishing trip.

I didn't expect much from the fishing today, I just wanted to sit in the sun and eat junk food. It was about 22 degrees and perfect sunshine, with a fresh breeze, not enough to spoil the heat.There were hardly any people there, and the leaves were just beginning to show on the bare trees.

Well, I am quite impressed with myself. This is by far the earliest that I have gone fishing in years. It was a beautiful sunny day, with quite a breeze, so I decided to head for the sheltered Bromswell Lakes. There are absolutely no leaves on the trees yet, and not much sign of life under water.

I settled down to another boring afternoon of rubbish fishing, but was taken surprise by a frantic period of angry takes by large carp, all snapping me up and giving me a right good old bashing. Having bumped into the old fellow with the big wispy beard, who advised me to stick my float on the far bank, by the old boat, close into the margin, I soon started getting interest.

It was an average day of fishing, not helped by constantly getting tangled and snapped by angry carp.
